On May 1, 2014 at 9:20 pm we welcomed Bodhi into our family. I haven't posted anything to this blog in such a long time because on September 23, 2013 we lost our son Flint to unknown causes. Losing Flint was the hardest thing I've ever gone through emotionally. I tell these two stories of Bodhi and Flint together because they're so closely tied.
Throughout the pregnancy and during the year in between pregnancies I did a lot of counseling and had a lot of support. I really thought I was emotionally prepared to give birth when it was time for with Bodhi- but as labor progressed I started to grieve and my body remembered the experience of giving birth to Flint. That, combined with the fact that my water broke and I did not going to labor naturally made this labor so very different than with Ginny. I ended up doing something I never thought I would do-I decided to get an epidural. I was emotionally and physically so tired. As soon as it went in, about 10 minutes later I had to push, and 10 minutes after that Bodhi was born-8lb 14 oz.
I will always feel like I have three children, and I am so grateful for the opportunity to have one more baby-and what a sweet, calm, adorable, mild tempered baby he is! It is so much fun having such a mellow baby. I can't wait to see what he'll be like as he grows up!
